John Milton Green
John Milton Greer, age 70, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, in Roseburg, Oregon.
John was born on January 30, 1956, in Canyonville, Oregon, to the late Milton Dallas Greer and Johnnie Sue Deomorest. He graduated from Riddle High School in 1975.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1976 to 1980, stationed at Little Rock Air Force Base, where he worked in the gym and was known for his spirited and competitive nature. He later continued his service in the National Guard.
John spent many meaningful years in Pennsylvania from 1980 to 2006, where he worked as a racquetball professional, a salesman for Specialty Bakers, and later as the owner of the West Shore Tennis Club from 1995 to 2005. He built a life centered on community, sport, and connection.
In 2005, John returned to Oregon, where he owned and operated JGelati Italian Ice in Milwaukie. It became a warm and welcoming gathering place for family, friends, customers, and even four-legged visitors.
In 2014, John was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Though it brought significant challenges, he faced them with determination and never gave up hope for better treatments or a cure. Through it all, he held onto his sense of humor and his deep kindness. Caregivers often shared that John was their favorite—an enduring testament to the warmth and light he brought to those around him.
Above all, John will be remembered for his love of family, his easy humor, and the meaningful connections he made throughout his life.
He is survived by his daughters, Chrissy Cavender (Melanie) of Arkansas and Rebecca Greer of Pennsylvania; his longtime partner, Lori Miller of Washington, and his bonus children, Steven and Lucian; his siblings, Paul Greer of Oregon, Michael Johnson (Melinda) of Arizona, Mona Weaver of Washington, Terri Addis of Oregon, and Dale, Keith, Terri, and Donna Burke (Darrell) of Arkansas; as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Connie Greer and Tanya Smiley.
